Third place for Mancini at the International Championships of Lignano Sabbiadoro

A third important place for the young Massimo Mancini at the international Championship of Lignano Sabbiadoro, a result that consolidates its position at the top of the national ranking. First-year juniores, Massimo seems not to be unprepared to the passage to the upper class and on Sunday, January 25th, in the first leg of the 2015 Grand Prix held in Friuli, he has demonstrated to have the capacities to affirm himself both nationally and internationally in an extremely difficult category, the 90 kg. An excellent performance, smart and tenacious, that shown by the cadet by of brothers Famà; Massimo has managed to overcome the defeat in the first round in a crescendo until the final match against the Italian champion Rollo, of the Banzai Cortina Roma, who has been defeated by Massimo, thanks to a superb attack (evalueted waza-ari) a few seconds before the end. The commitment and seriousness of this athlete, who faces every night 100 kilometers to train in Spello, have been well rewarded over the years by high-level results: Massimo was Italian champion in 2014 and winner of the Grand Prix and at the first place of the national Ranking since 2014. Good also the performance of the teammate Giacomo Fiorucci, in the 66 kg category, who won the first two meetings but than lost aganinst the strong athlete of Naples, Giovanni Esposito. However, Giacomo has highlighted a huge technical growth. Nothing to do for the two cadets Carlo Kallcishta and Gloria Giacomucci, who did their best; they were unable to manage meetings against more experienced opponents. A great Satisfaction for the technician Filippo Battistoni who has closely followed the boys on this trip and who has spent words of praise for the commitment shown by the entire team.

Massimo Mancini conquers two medals at the Grand Prix of Catania

A Massimo Mancini in great shape conquer two medals at the Grand Prix, held in Catania on saturday 14th and sunday 15th at the Palalivatino of Alicastello (CT): gold medal in the cadets competition, where Massimo is the italian champion 2014, and bronze medal in the juniores category. In the cadets competition, the Spello’s citizen doesn’t give escape to the opponents, he presses them from the very beginning and ends always before the limit, thanks to the spectacular techniques, evaluated ippon. The highest step of the podium is his, proving that he is at the time, in the 90 kg category, the strongest italy’s cadet. The day after, the Spello’s warrior has arrived on the area of fighting with the intention to repeat the success achieved in the cadets competition, but the semifinal meeting, one way, concludes with a bitter defeat: three yukos and three admonitions of the opponent weren’t enough to be right on a though judokas, who managed to perform a technique evaluaded waza-ri. Not at all demoralized, Massimo goes on the Tatami and wins in thirty seconds the match and the bronze medal, a great result that allows him to move to the ranking position and to obtain the right to participate to the European Cup, reserved to the Juniores. “A result that rewards the efforts of Massimo, who, under the careful and responsible direction of the physical trainer Ilaria Silvani of Terni, has already made big strides and notable improvements from the athletic point of view, as he has demonstrated during the competition” said the technic Giulio Famà. Good performance also for Giacomo Fiorucci in the 66 kg category juniores, who after having won the first match and lost the second through injury, was unable to play the matches of recovery. Still too young, instead, Gloria Giacomucci, who in the 57 kg category, is overwhelmed by the more experienced opponents, but has enormous potentials to be exploited; in the long run she can give great satisfactions to the club of Spello. Meanwhile the athletic preparation goes on in brother’s Famà gym, in anticipation of the future competions, that already in september will see the Judokas of Spello engaged on the tatamis of all Europe.

Massimo Mancini is Champion of Italy

Saturday afternoon at Lido di Ostia, the athlete of Kodokan Samurai Spello gained the top step of the podium in the category of -90kg. A great result, symbol of capacity and determination of the young athlete that left no chance to his opponents. Mancini, trained by the brothers Giulio and Giuseppe Famà, after he won the first three meetings by Ippon (the equivalent of the knockout in boxing), he fought in the final against Lucci Prato. The balanced match had a breakthrough in the last 20 seconds when the class of Mancini overtook over the strong opponent of Tuscany. Before the bell rang, Massimo got a yuko, an important point granted him the victory. After the bronze medal last year, and the first place in the national ranking, the title of Champion of Italy opens the doors for a spot in the national team. Already on March 8 Massimo will defend the Italian colors in Zagreb in his first European ranking stage. "It 'a beautiful dream - says the new Italian champion - for which I must thank the team mates of the KDK Spello where I train five times a week. I would like to mention also my teachers, who transmitted me the passion for this wonderful sport, Fiocchetti and Nardone and especially my family and my father". That of Mancini is proof that strong motivation cannot stop you from climbing insurmountable obstacles. In addition to the gold medal and the call-up, Mancini also earned the second dan black belt. A Saturday to remember that on February 23, also for the excellent performance of five other samurais of the Kodokan Spello: Alfonso Argenio, Andrea Biasin, Michele Damiani, Filippo Battistoni and Alessandro Binucci who conquered great placings at the 40th International Tournament of Barcelona.

The brothers Mancini grant an encore

After Massimo Mancini his sister Silvia, born in 1993, conquers the black belt. On the third try, Silvia Mancini reached the goal and finished in 7th place in the final of the 78 kg at the Italian Juniors Championships held Sunday, Feb. 24 at Andria. The girl faced with determination the competition and proved that a little more training probably would have allowed her to get on the podium. Unfortunately, she has trouble studying (she studies engineering at the University of Perugia together with his teammate Juri Medici) and she lives distant from Spello, in Terni: all this prevents her from attending the gym with more regularity. Great satisfaction for the technician Giulio Famà who always believed in the ability of his athlete. "I have to thank, first of all my family - says the young judoka - who supported me, even economically and who followed me up to Andria to cheer for me. Secondly, I would like to thank all the guys of Spello, who helped me to face this difficult experience, and finally my teacher, Giulio Famà, to whom I am already very fond and who believed in me". A great start of the year, which in just two weeks has brought a wave of joy and success to the team of Spello: two black belts in the same family and a bronze medal, the one of Massimo (he may avail itself of the advice of the European champion, Francesco Lepre, black belt 6th Dan, head of the agonistic teams of Master Giuseppe Famà). The spoils of Andria could have been even greater if the draws had not been that difficult for the samurais of Spello. In the first round, Michael Balzana won against the Sicilian Pappalardo, who won several times a medal at the Italian Championships, but then he lost against the neapolitan Di Loreto (European bronze medal). In the retrieval phase, Balzana lost against the titled athlete of Turin, Schiavina. Nothing to do for Giacomo Gramaccioni and Juri Medici, both out in the first round.
