23rd International Tournament Yamashita Giano dell’Umbria

The second leg of the Grand Prix, held in Umbria, on Saturday, March 14th, gave a smile to the giant of Spello: Filippo Battistoni got on the lowest step of the podium, a result which has projected him on the top of the national ranking. The bronze medal of Filippo, coached by brothers Famà, is the only that has been won by the Umbrian athletes in the male category of the 23rd International Tournament Yamashita Giano dell’ Umbria, in the over 100 kg category. In this difficult and prestigious competition, there were two medalists of the Italian Championship. Battistoni passed the first round without fighting and in the second round he imposed with a spectacular technique, evaluated ippon. In the semifinals he faced the athlete Menale of Rome, vice Italian champion, in an open meeting full of surprises: the Umbrian, leading the meeting by waza-ari until 10 seconds before the end, got caught by a technique evaluated waza-ari and lost the match by a trivial passivity. A missed opportunity, but in the end part of the small final he didn’t let go and, with conviction and determination, he ended the meeting with a projection of applauses. Finally, after so many disappointments, a performance that highlights the physical and technical skills of an athlete constantly on the top of the national ranking. Excellent performance of Alessandro Binucci in the category 81 kg, who gained a fifth place, with four matches won and two lost: a result that does not reward, as it should, the effort and performance of the athlete, but Judo unfortunately is unpredictable and full of surprises. In total, the team of Spello has performed well, and Luca Giulietti, Michael Balzana, Michele Damiani, Patryk Stojecki, Lenin and Jorge Mosquera showed a great growth and improvement that bode well for the future. Even the youth, stands out with the superb bronze medal of Charles Kallcishta, that in the 50 kg category Cadets, obtains an important result: red light, instead, for Gloria Giacomucci and Fabio Napolitano. Important, finally, the great performance of Massimo Mancini in the team competition held in Siena Sunday, March 15. The athlete of Spello, deployed among the ranks of the Italian national junior, put in serious difficulty the athlete of the Hungarian national, former European silver. In total, a positive weekend for the association of Spello.

Filed a beautiful fourth edition of the Cup

A tournament that saw the participation of 24 companies from Umbria, Lazio, Campania and Marche. The numbers of the participants are interesting and the technical level expressed by these young people is relevant, given the young age. Everything went well and the competitions, both in the morning and in the evening, lasted less than two hours, a very reasonable time; that has been appreciated by the large audience, composed mainly by relatives and friends. The praise for the success of the event goes to all the members of the association of Spello with his athletes, coaches, counselors and parents who have done their best to make the event pleasant and engaging. A sincere thanks goes to the jury presidents Sara Cipriani, Giorgia and Walter Binucci for their hard work and to the arbitrators Borio, Fauli and Ruelle, and finally to the technicians who have given their availability to arbitrate the afternoon performance of the young mini judokas. Guest of honor was the new mayor of Spello Moreno Landrini that has spared no praise for the efforts of the tireless society of brothers Famà.

Third place for Mancini at the International Championships of Lignano Sabbiadoro

A third important place for the young Massimo Mancini at the international Championship of Lignano Sabbiadoro, a result that consolidates its position at the top of the national ranking. First-year juniores, Massimo seems not to be unprepared to the passage to the upper class and on Sunday, January 25th, in the first leg of the 2015 Grand Prix held in Friuli, he has demonstrated to have the capacities to affirm himself both nationally and internationally in an extremely difficult category, the 90 kg. An excellent performance, smart and tenacious, that shown by the cadet by of brothers Famà; Massimo has managed to overcome the defeat in the first round in a crescendo until the final match against the Italian champion Rollo, of the Banzai Cortina Roma, who has been defeated by Massimo, thanks to a superb attack (evalueted waza-ari) a few seconds before the end. The commitment and seriousness of this athlete, who faces every night 100 kilometers to train in Spello, have been well rewarded over the years by high-level results: Massimo was Italian champion in 2014 and winner of the Grand Prix and at the first place of the national Ranking since 2014. Good also the performance of the teammate Giacomo Fiorucci, in the 66 kg category, who won the first two meetings but than lost aganinst the strong athlete of Naples, Giovanni Esposito. However, Giacomo has highlighted a huge technical growth. Nothing to do for the two cadets Carlo Kallcishta and Gloria Giacomucci, who did their best; they were unable to manage meetings against more experienced opponents. A great Satisfaction for the technician Filippo Battistoni who has closely followed the boys on this trip and who has spent words of praise for the commitment shown by the entire team.

The first competition of the year started with the right foot

At the Macaluso Trophy, held on Saturday, January 17th in Calenzano, the young Gloria Giacomucci has won a bronze medal in the difficult 52 kg category; Gloria has distinguished herself with many ippons techniques but she has lost, because of a trivial mistake, the chance to stand on the top step of the podium. In the senior class, up to brown belt, gold medal for Patryk Stojecki in the 90 kg category, and a bronze one for Luca Giulietti in the 73 kg category. After the Tuscan competition, eyes fixed on the four samurais, Massimo Mancini, Giacomo Fiorucci, Carlo Kallcishta and Gloria Giacomucci, who, oh Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th will step into the arena of Palagetur of Lignano Sabbiadoro to conquer a place of honor in the first competition of the 2015 Grand Prix.

The Russian Olympic team has overwhelmed France A and won the Adidas Trophee of Monaco

The 2014 edition, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Monegasque Federation of Judo, has inaugurated the unusual formula of the team competition: there were eight clubs, the only absents were Japan and England. The team of Spello, with four loans, two absolute champions (Fabio Andreoli and Pablo Tomasetti) and the No. 2 in the national ranking, Matteo Celesti, has done all that he could, but there was nothing to do against the titled teams, nationals and clubs, with Olympic, world and European athletes and champions ... so on and so forth! The Umbrians have been defeated, 5 to 2, against Sucy Judo, No. 4 in France and third classified in the Tournament of Monaco 2011, which surprisingly beated Georgia, they lost head-on against the super Russian team, with 7 to 0 and 5 to 2 in the third meeting, beyond any questionable judgment. An amazing experience for Michael Balzana (60 kg.), Alessandro Binucci (81 kg.) And Filippo Battistoni (over 100 kg.) The team had been prepared by the the coach Giuseppe Fama. c.n. 6 dan and by Michele Damiani and Daniele Piermaria.

A great closing for Michele Damiani, seventh place in final ranking of the Italian Absolutes

A competition to remember for Michele Damiani, took place at the indoor stadium of Asti, on Saturday, November 29th and not only for the four matches won, but above all for having given him the bronze medal in the encounter against the Florentine Boni, with whom he had already won the Grand Prix of Turin . Superb victory at the fifth round against the Chierici of Arezzo, which made us hope well for a place on the podium: it did not happen, but Michele has shown its full potential. A fantastic start for Alessandro Binucci who beated during the first match the tough Rubini of Parma, but in the second round an unrecognizable Alessandro has been defeated by an athlete from Turin, against whom he had already won in the past. Nothing to be done, however, for Fillippo Battistoni and Giacomo Gramaccioni: a brief appearance on the tatami puts an end to any ambitions of the two athletes, certainly good ... but the future could give something of important, if only they believed more in their abilities.

A crescendo of success in this year-end for the young brothers Famà: a gold medal for Carlo Kallchista, a silver one for Matteo Murasecco and a bronzeo one for Luca Gasparrini in the 50 kg. category, Rookie class B. A great bronze for Gloria Giacomucci in the 57 kg. category, cadets, who won two of the three matches played and was defeated only by the young Roman girl, winner of the category. Finally, a well-earned bronze in the 45 kg category for Riccardo Tartaglini, beginners A, who has competed for the representative of Umbria, which has shown to have the right qualities to arrive in teh future on the national tops. Nothing to do, however, for the young Alice Capitini who couldn’t managed to pass over the first round, and stopped at the foot of the podium.

A gold medail for Massimo Mancini in the Bellizzi Tournament, the last leg of the Grand Prix, and the first place in the final of the National Ranking. A great satisfaction for Kodokan Spello that sees his top athlete winning the 2014 Grand Prix of Italy and, with this goal, the concrete possibility to find a space in the national team. Three matches played, all ended before the end, thanks to the power and perfection of the technical movements which rewarded Maurizio with three wonderful ippons. The young of Spello has received the compliments of the leading experts, present at the competition, impressing the judges with his tenacity and his determination: we should thank, for their work and for the excellent level reached by the pupil of the brothers Famà, the athletic preparator Ilaria Silvani of Terni and one of the most outstanding athletes of Umbrian Judo Daniele Sciabola, from the Spoleto’s company X2, the flagship of Leonardo Perini, Vice President of the Sector, who - with commitment and dedication - trains in Spello two times a week with the young Massimo. It overshadowed the performance of the young, but promising, Gloria Giacomucci, out in the first round, returned to competition after a short break due to physical problems: however, the potential of the young womann gives hope for the future. Good, however, the performance of Giacomo Fiorucci, an athlete who everytime shows during the competition the reached technical level, who performed well also in the Bellizzi Trophy.
