15th International Tournament Creativ (Austria)

At the 15th International Tournament “Creativ”, held in Graz (Austria), Saturday, June 29, the team of Spello conquered the podium twice: bronze won by Andrea Biasin in the 66 kg and by Alfonso Argenio in the over 100 kg. An excellent Andrea, in great form, has conquered the lowest step of the podium after four fights: he has surrendered only against the athlete from the Czech Republic who at the end won the gold. A very difficult category, with the participation of great athletes from Eastern Europe, but the will of Biasin to be able to establish itself in the elite of the national judo, made it possible to seize a prestigious result (two matches won by ippon against a Hungarian and against an Austrian). The return of Argenio, several times medalist in national competitions, after a long break of rest because of an injury, could not be better: a category full of impressive athletes, all with around 130-140 kg of muscles. The athlete of Spello has fought like a lion, but at the end of the competition, he managed to get "only" a bronze, a great achievement that bodes well for the future. However, Alessandro Binucci went out in the second round, in the 81 kg category after a trauma on the neck that has conditioned the continuation of the race: after the 5th place achieved last year in the 73 kg, yet another accident has closed the first half of this year in a negative way. Nothing to do for Giacomo Fiorucci, in the 66 kg, junior class, who lost the first fight only for a minimal difference, caused by his inexperience at international level. The preparation of the athletes of the brothers Giuseppe and Giulio Famà continues, waiting for the performance of Michael Balzana at the Berlin International Championships, tournament of the European Cup. Michael, together with his teammate Massimo Mancini, will also participate at the collegial with the national team, training camp to prepare for the next EYOF.
